14.11.23 15:00

Georgian wines made in qvevri - clay vessels used for wine storage throughout the tradition of winemaking on the territory of the country - were presented on Monday and Sunday at the Artisan Wine Fair in New York, the National Wine Agency of Georgia said on Tuesday.

Visitors at the event were introduced to 13 varieties of Georgian natural wines. Along with tasting, they learned about ancient production traditions of Georgian wine, its history and culture.

“According to Georgian winemakers, there was great interest shown in Georgian wine by both wine professionals and consumers”, the Agency said.

Considering the possibility of finding potential importers and increasing exports, it is particularly important to present Georgian wine to the United States, since the country is one of the strategic export markets for Georgian wine”, it added.

Created in 2012 by French wine master Isabelle Legeron, the event annually gathers dozens of wine companies that produce low-intervention organic, biodynamic and natural wines.
