Muslims and Jews before Israel came into being and the current myths surrounding their "historical enmity"

07.11.23 14:30

For some reason, recently, in connection with the situation in the Middle East and the war in Gaza, the Islamophobic stereotype that "Muslims have always hated Jews" has been spread among ordinary people all over the world. Although even now those who oppose the bombing and outright genocide of Palestinians in Gaza (not only Muslims but Christians as well) have nothing against Jews as an ethnic group and Jews as a religious group. But specific forces clearly want to take the artificially fuelled discord and hatred between Muslims and Jews global.
Why this is necessary - we can now speculate. Above all, it is hard to find a better reason to "tighten the screws" everywhere under the pretext of fighting "anti-Semitism", especially in countries with Muslim communities. In EU countries in general, the presence of alleged "Islamist extremists" and alleged "anti-Jewish" people becomes an excellent reason to tighten the already total police control over society, especially in countries like France.

However, historical facts show that there were no conflicts between Muslims and Jews before the creation of the State of Israel. Nor was there any persecution of the Jewish population in Muslim countries. Moreover, Jews and Muslims were often equally persecuted. It is enough to recall the persecutions that followed the Reconquista in Spain, where not only Muslims and Jews who kept their faith, but also those who formally converted to Catholicism (Moriscos and Marans) were oppressed and expelled.

Here is a brief historical chronology of the persecution of the Jews over the last thousand years:

1080 г. - Expelled from France.
1098 - expelled from Bohemia.
1113 г. - Expulsion from Kievan Rus' (by Vladimir Monomakh).
1113 г. - Massacre of Jews in Kiev.
1147 - expulsion from France.
1171 - expulsion from Italy.
1188 / 1198 /1290. - Expelled from England.
1298 - Expelled from Switzerland.
1306 г. - Expelled from France.
1360 г. - Expelled from Hungary.
1391 - expelled from Spain.
1394 г. - Expelled from France.
1407 г. - Expelled from Poland.
1492 - expelled from Spain (the law on the eternal prohibition of Jews to enter the country).
1492 - expelled from Sicily.
1495 г. - Expulsion from Lithuania and Kiev
1496 - expelled from Portugal
1510 г. - Expulsion from England
1516 г. - Expelled from Portugal
1516 г. - Law in Sicily allowing Jews to live only in the ghetto.
1541 - Expelled from Austria.
1555 - Expelled from Portugal.
1555 - Law in Rome allowing Jews to live only in the ghetto.
1567 - Expelled from Italy.
1570 г. - Expulsion from Germany (Brandenburg).
1580 г. - Expulsion from Novgorod (by Ivan the Terrible).
1592 - expulsion from France.
1616 г. - Expulsion from Switzerland.
1629 - Expelled from Spain and Portugal (by Philip IV).
1634 / 1655 - expelled from Switzerland.
1660 г. - Expulsion from Kiev
1701 г. - Total expulsion from Switzerland (decree of Philip V)
1828 - expulsion from Kiev.
1933 - expulsion from Germany and genocide.

So, historically, Jews have been persecuted almost everywhere in Christian countries (except Georgia), and conversely, Jews have never been persecuted in Muslim countries! Not even once!
Before the Zionist project was realized, the war in Palestine between the Jewish settlers and the indigenous Arab population began in 1947. On 14 May 1948, the state of Israel was created in the occupied Palestinian territories. But again, it was not the Jews who were persecuted and driven from their homes, but the Muslims.

In the above chronology, it is fascinating that Kyiv is frequently mentioned as a place of persecution of the Jews (who had lived there since the Khazar Kaganate). We should also add the unprecedented persecution of Jews in Ukraine during the Khmelnitschina period (1648-1657), which also affected Kyiv. These historical facts appear all the more paradoxical against the background of modern Kyiv and Ukraine, where the President is a Jew by nationality and a significant part of the political leadership is Jewish (it is difficult to find an ethnic Ukrainian among the highest representatives of power in Ukraine).

Against this background, Ukraine is increasingly seen as a destination for "reverse repatriation" from Israel, as evidenced by the almost skyrocketing prices of previously cheaper real estate since the beginning of October (in some areas by 30-40% in one month!), which is atypical for a country at war. In addition, most political analysts have begun to speak of a "freeze" in the war in Ukraine, against the background of the flare-up in the Middle East.
