Irakli Gharibashvili met with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, within the framework of his visit to the Kingdom of Spain.

 

Speaking with Ursula von der Leyen, Irakli Gharibashvili emphasized the importance of Georgia's success on the path of European integration and the status of the country at the end of the year in both the regional and global context.

 

The Prime Minister provided the President of the European Commission with detailed information about the progress achieved in the implementation of the 12 recommendations. According to him, the Government of Georgia has done its best to implement the recommendations and the process is still ongoing.

 

As the Prime Minister noted, Georgia closely cooperated with the European Union and the Venice Commission in the process of implementing the recommendations and continues to do so.

 

Irakli Gharibashvili expressed hope that Georgia's progress and its efforts to implement the 12 priorities will be fairly recognized. Accordingly, Georgia is waiting for the right political decision from the Commission at the end of the year.

 

The Prime Minister also emphasized the important role of Georgia in the process of ensuring regional security and noted that Georgia is always ready to contribute to ensuring peace and stability in the region.
