05.10.23 14:30

“Journalists are not prohibited from performing their professional duties, but the Parliament staff, the politicians who are employees of the Georgian parliament can make remarks in another space and not the one allocated for MPs,” said Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, when speaking about internal regulations rules.

The Speaker referred to politicians of Lelo, For Georgia parties, Sergo Chikhladze and Berdia Sichinava, saying that giving comments in MPs space “confuses society.” He said some politicians were registered as “staff of the Apparatus” and received monthly wages.

The Speaker explained that Parliament’s PR Service warned heads of the political groups, but they ignored the warning.

“If Sergo Chikhladze or Berdia Sichinava want to be MPs, they should participate in parliamentary voting procedures. Let them be lawmakers, and they will have the opportunity to make remarks over the background of the Georgian flag and parliament’s symbolism,” he said.
