The main thing is that everyone, society, wants a European future, we have no other future. I would like to emphasize that Russia cannot be an alternative future. Georgia will not allow this, said the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, during a speech at a meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations.

According to the President, Georgia has "arrived at the door of Europe" and everyone should do what they can in this process.

"When we are at the door of Europe, we all know how decisive this moment will be, when we are granted the status of a candidate, I will not say that we will not be granted, but nothing in life comes by itself, and the main path to be followed today is ours, yours, we should pass it together. Everything will be very important, any step, inside the country or outside. Everyone has a role to play in the field we work in, be it culture, economics, law, foreign policy or the field of experts. This is not something one person can do.

I will be with you wherever I can. I continue my visits and soon I will go to the Baltic countries, Poland, Belgium. Everyone should do what they can. The biggest role the media can play is not to allow anyone to overshadow what is important with other issues. The main thing is that everyone, the country, the society, wants a European future. We have no other future. I would like to emphasize that Russia cannot be an alternative future. Georgia will not allow it, I will not allow it, you will not allow it, no one will allow it. No one should scare us, no one should make us believe that something is impossible, everything is in our hands and no one can make us lose it, and whoever tries to do it, they themselves will be lost", said Salome Zurabishvili.

In her address to the representatives of non-governmental organizations, President Zurabishvili noted that Georgia is entering one of the most decisive periods in history, and the role of non-governmental organizations will be crucial in this process.

"I am glad to have the opportunity to meet you here in the palace. I hope this is not the last time. We will see how it will be, but I am very happy that we are given this opportunity today. In fact, today we are entering one of the most crucial periods in our country's history. You represent the sector of our country that is most important today for what needs to be done. I consider myself, first of all, a representative of the people, the population, the society, and you are an active part of this society and you have the opportunity to give your voice to the society," said Salome Zurabishvili.
