Georgian Justice Minister, US Attorney General sign deal to strengthen ties

Georgian Minister of Justice Tea Tsulukiani and the Attorney General of the United States William Barr have signed a deal to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

 

"The visit of the Georgian justice minister to the US is of high importance for strengthening cooperation and strategic relations between the Georgian Ministry of Justice and the US Justice Department,” the press office of the Georgian Ministry of Justice reports.

 

Tsulukiani thanked the US Justice Department for their support against family violence, human trafficking and corruption in Georgia and for the changes carried out in the Georgian Juvenile Justice Code and in the penitentiary system.

 

Tsulukiani briefed Barr regarding the reforms being carried out in the penitentiary field, offering special programmes and rehabilitation and resocialisation opportunities to prisoners.
