Ana Natsvlishvili: It is a fact that the government says one thing, does another and thinks the third. If the West is depraved and pushes Georgia somewhere towards depravity or war, then what is the point of discussing 12 recommendations in such a serious manner at this conference?

It is a fact that the government says one thing, does another and thinks the third. If the West is depraved and pushes Georgia somewhere towards depravity or war, then what is the point of discussing 12 recommendations in such a serious manner at this conference? - Lelo MP Ana Natsvlishvili said before the start of the conference, which deals with the topic - "Georgia's road to the European Union".

According to Natsvlishvili, it is up to the European Union to decide whether Georgia will receive the status of a candidate or not, however, according to her, the government does not express the will of the Georgian people.

"This decision is up to the European Union. The fact is that the government does not want the Georgian people to receive this status and is doing everything to stop the reforms. We continue to work with our Western partners in order to bring to them even more clearly what the Georgian people have to say, since the government does not say or do what the Georgian people want. That is why we are working with our Western partners to make them aware of what the government is saying and doing. The wishes of the government and the people in relation to the European Union are separated from each other, but the final decision is based on evaluations. Therefore, the government's current attempt is an attempt to justify itself as to why there are no recommendations. Obviously, they are looking for ways to escape responsibility, but the fact is that going against the overwhelming majority of society will carry a very heavy political price.

The main attempt of the government is to somehow escape responsibility and justify itself, since it has been exposed in the non-implementation of recommendations. As for today's conference, where they invited representatives of the civil society, whom they called agents and enemies of people just 3 months ago, this is an attempt on their part to apologize to the civil society. I don't know how much the civil society will accept this apology, it is up to them. However, the fact is that the government says one thing, does another and thinks the third. If the West is depraved and pushes Georgia somewhere towards depravity or war, then what is the point of discussing 12 recommendations in such a serious manner at this conference? They don't want to explain to their voters that the only thing that is a prerequisite for candidate status is reforms, or admit that they are busy spreading anti-Western lies and misleading the public during this very conference," Natsvlishvili said.
