Parliament overrides President's veto on draft amendments to Law on National Bank

14.06.23 10:40

The Parliament overrode the President's veto on the draft amendments to the Law on the National Bank.

Initially, the bill with the President’s motivated remarks was voted on, which was supported only by 15 MPs against 26.

After that, the initial version of the draft law was put to the vote, which was supported by 82 votes (9 against).

With the legislative changes adopted by the majority, which Salome Zurabishvili did not sign, a new executive position - the post of the First Vice-President - is being introduced in the board of the National Bank. The First Vice-President of the National Bank shall perform his duties in the absence of the President of the National Bank.
