Speaker Papuashvili meets Liechtenstein's FM

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili met with Dominique Hasler, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education, and Sports of Liechtenstein.

 

The parties discussed bilateral and multilateral relations between the two countries. According to the Georgian Parliament, Speaker Papuashvili expressed his gratitude for Liechtenstein’s unwavering support of Georgia’s territorial integrity. He highlighted the country’s co-sponsorship of Georgia’s resolution on internally displaced persons and refugees status at the UN General Assembly. Papuashvili also noted that Minister Hasler’s visit is the first official visit from Liechtenstein to Georgia.

 

Minister Hasler emphasized the shared values between Georgia and Liechtenstein, particularly respect for democracy, human rights, and international law principles. The discussion also focused on cooperation in various sectors, with a particular emphasis on deepening parliamentary ties. The conversation touched on the possibilities of cooperating in education and science.

 

Minister Hasler expressed Liechtenstein’s support for Georgia’s European aspirations and readiness to share its experience as a member of the European Economic Area (EEA) with Georgia, particularly in terms of aligning legislation with the EU.

 

Both sides expressed their commitment to advancing bilateral relations and agreed to continue cooperation at the multilateral level, including during Liechtenstein’s upcoming Council of Europe presidency.
