Tina Bokuchava: Until now our partners had been voicing harsh messages behind closed doors, but now they had to do it openly, because they see that the Russian government is depriving the pro-Western Georgian people of European future

Until now our partners had been voicing such harsh messages and assessments behind closed doors. Now they had to do it openly, because they see that the Russian government is depriving the pro-Western Georgian people of European future, Tina Bokuchava, the head of the National Movement faction, said while responding to the statements made by the partners at the meeting of the Georgia-EU Association Committee in Brussels.

As she noted, the partners are now trying to protect Georgia's European perspective, and their criticism serves this purpose, however, Bokuchava adds that the government does not take steps adequate to the criticism.

"This is their main concern. Actually, with such harsh criticism, they are trying to protect the choice of the Georgian people and the European perspective, that is the essence of this criticism. However, I am sure that this will not be followed by appropriate steps from the government, because it has openly chosen the Russian path.

It is expected that there will be constant pressure from the West on the openly pro-Russian authorities so that they do not completely deviate from Georgia's Euro-Atlantic course. The task of the Western partners is to ensure that Georgia does not lose the historical window of opportunity and preserves the European perspective," said Bokuchava.
