Joining the European Union is not an easy process, but the overall path, the overall trend should be clear. We must take steps and refuse the kind of steps that are not in line with the standards of the European Union and we must refuse anti-Western rhetoric, which can hinder Georgia on this path, said Boris Kollár, Chairman of the Parliament of the Slovak Republic, who is paying a visit to Tbilisi.

As he said at a joint briefing after signing the cooperation document between the parliaments, there are differences in all political countries, but polarization harms the society and their future development.

"Joining the European Union is not an easy process, but the whole path, the whole trend should be clear. We must take steps and refuse the kind of steps that are not in line with the standards of the European Union and we must refuse anti-Western rhetoric, which can hinder Georgia on this path. I want to be very honest. Slovakia was not invited to join the EU at the beginning of its journey in 1998, but we finally got there and joined in 2004 along with other countries. We made European integration our first priority, and it is necessary in Georgia that all positions, the opposition, the non-governmental sector, be united in striving towards the European Union, it is important to send such a signal.

It is normal to have differences in all political countries, but polarization harms society, its future development. It is important for all politicians to make contacts, build bridges of unity, and we are here to share our experience and maybe point out gaps that need to be addressed. The message of our visit is that we fully support Georgia's path and aspiration towards the European Union, and we are friends of Georgia," said Boris Kollár.

For information, at the invitation of the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, the Speakers of the Parliaments of Slavkov's Three: Slovakia, Austria and the Czech Republic are in Georgia. According to the press service of the Parliament of Georgia, within the framework of the official visit, the delegation of three countries will meet with the President, Prime Minister and Speaker of the Parliament.
