Sanctioning any company that is sanctioned for violation of international sanctions is not good, but sanctioning a company like Georgian Airways will not bring significant damage to the budget and the economy of the country, Deputy Finance Minister Giorgi Kakauridze said.

According to him, the sanction imposed by Ukraine on the mentioned airline is not an international sanction.

According to Kakauridze, he does not know what is behind the decision of the specific government, however, he is sure that all state bodies in Georgia are doing everything possible to avoid the circumvention of sanctions by any company.

"A sanction imposed by Ukraine does not mean an international sanction. Sanctioning Georgian Airways or any company that violates international sanctions and is sanctioned because of it is not good, but sanctioning a company like Georgian Airways, of course, will not cause significant damage to the budget and economy of the country. However, Ukraine's inclusion in the sanctions list does not mean that it is subject to international sanctions. International sanctions have their own procedures and rules, as to how these decisions are made. I really do not expect that if Georgian Airways does not violate the sanctions (I really hope no company will violate them and all will enforce the sanctions imposed by the European Union, Great Britain, and the United States), it will be on the list of those sanctioned. The sanction of Ukraine does not mean the sanction of the European Union," Kakauridze said.

For information, Georgian Airways was included in the sanction list by Ukraine.
