Reception of Russian citizens without incidents shows the tolerance of Georgians, but this should be accompanied by clear and strict state regulations. The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, announced during her speech in the European Parliament.

"While political polarization has affected the perception of Georgian tolerance, recent events have shown that it is alive and well. Georgia received and has been hosting more than 80,000 Russians for a year and a half.

Let's think about what it means to accept citizens from a country that has occupied 20% of your territory and is waging the most brutal war against your friend, Ukraine. The fact that this happened without serious incidents shows the tolerance of Georgia. We can and should be proud, but this should be accompanied by clear and strict state regulations, so that tolerance does not open the way to frustration and escalation," said Zurabishvili.
