Shalva Papuashvili: We should all be trying now to convince the European Union - they made a mistake and this mistake should be corrected

21.04.23 13:50

Today, we should all be trying now to convince the European Union - the mistake that the European Union made in June and which it admitted in January turned out to be facts, that we are ahead of the two countries that received the candidate status and one or two candidate countries, said the Chairman of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili told Imedi TV.

As Shalva Papuashvili pointed out, the opposition and the NGO sector should now be trying to convince the European Union - they made a mistake when they did not grant Georgia candidate status.

According to him, the mistake made in June by not granting Georgia candidate status should be corrected.

"We should all be trying now to convince the European Union - they made a mistake and this mistake should be corrected. We must convince everyone that Georgia deserves, and even then deserved, the status of a candidate. Moreover, we must now prove and tell the European Union that the mistake was not only in not giving us the status of a candidate, the main mistake that the European Union made is that it left us one step behind Ukraine and Moldova when we are the leader in this Trio and this error should be corrected. This Trio that existed should be resurrected once more. Today, the opposition, the NGO sector and everyone should be busy with this. Instead, everyone is busy trying to put a stick in the wheels of the European cart of the Georgian state. For 30 years, today Georgia has the most disorganized opposition, which is actually not the government's opposition, but Georgia's opposition," said Shalva Papuashvili.
