The Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Otar Shamugia is presenting the results of the activities carried out by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture in 2022, current challenges and future visions in the Georgian Parliament, in the format of "Minister's Hour".

"Before going directly to the presentation of the report, I would like to emphasize that in the country, as well as in the whole world, economic development and at the same time protection of the environment, maintaining its sustainability, rational use of natural resources represent an important challenge; That is why all the activities, programs and events that we plan and implement, on the one hand, are aimed at maximally and effectively utilizing the potential in the agricultural sector, promoting the production and sale of competitive Georgian products that are in demand on international markets, and on the other hand, they aim to protect our environment as much as possible. Water, land and forest resources should be protected from pressure and damage. Consistent implementation of environmental policy should ensure sustainable and balanced development of the country. With all of the above in mind, we will meet the standards set by the international community," said the Minister.

Otar Shamugia noted that the situation in the region is a difficult challenge for the whole world.

"Each of us shares the gravity of the situation caused by the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops. In this context, we have even more responsibility to protect the interests of the country, to maintain peace, to prevent a difficult political, socio-economic situation and to be able to move forward, including towards the main goal, European integration", said Otar Shamugia.
