Georgian citizen, Chechen exile Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, killed in Berlin, Germany, will be buried in Duisi village of Pankisi Gorge today. Locals are expressing condolence to the family.

Khangoshvili’s body was repatriated to Georgia last night. Family members and locals of Pankisi Gorge arrived at cargo terminal Lasare at Tbilisi International airport where the dead body was brought.

The repatriation was also attended by Malkhaz Machalikashvili (father of Temirlan Machalikashvili, a 19-year-old youth killed in a special operation in Pankisi), Davit Katsarava, a representative of anti-occupational movement Power is in Unity, and members of National Movement Party.

A Chechen exile is said to have been shot dead in a Berlin Park by a Russian agent. German police arrested a 49-year-old Russian man soon after the shooting and found the suspected pistol and bike used in the attack.

Witnesses quoted in German media said the killer approached Khangoshvili, aged 40, from behind on a bicycle and shot him twice in the head, then sped off.

The attack took place in the Kleiner Tiergarten Park in Moabit, central Berlin, just before midday on 23 August.
