A complaint relating to the case of the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has been sent to the Strasbourg court, Giuli Alasania, the mother of the former president, and Giorgi Chaladze, the head of the headquarters for Saakashvili's release, told reporters in Poland.
"Temporary postponement of the sentence is a wish due to the state of health, to give a person the opportunity to recover, if he has this chance. His health is not inexhaustible, it is already in a very serious condition. In any case, I am trying very hard to somehow save my son's life", said Giuli Alasania.
"Releasing President Saakashvili requires many complex actions. All these actions are performed at the highest level. These actions will continue until his freedom is achieved. The most difficult thing, the biggest challenge is time, we have to do it while the president is alive. Then his death will lead to the loss of all the processes that are called the preservation of Georgia's statehood. Russia will drag us into that hole and vortex, which it has been promising for a long time", said Giorgi Chaladze.
InterPressNews contacted one of Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyers, Shalva Khachapuridze, about the complaint. According to him, he cannot talk about the details publicly until he receives an answer from his client.
"I will refrain from making statements for now. I have not seen him [Mikheil Saakashvili]. When we file a lawsuit, we will tell you about the request," said Shalva Khachapuridze.
