I am very disappointed when I see members of the radical groups in the corridors of Brussels and Strasbourg. This is a direct incitement to radicalism, and of course, if radicalism is incited, it will not be possible to talk about any depolarization. Therefore, I am sorry, - Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili said when commenting on the visit of the opposition parties to Brussels and Strasbourg.
According to him, each such handshake gives additional energy to radical groups, and everyone should realize this responsibility.
"There was another occasion earlier too and I then talked very clearly, including to the representatives of the European Union, that on the one hand, you talk that the country should do everything for depolarization, and on the other hand, you contribute to this depolarization by inciting radicals, through meetings or otherwise. Of course, this is disappointing. In addition to meetings and handshakes, each such handshake gives additional energy to the radical groups, and everyone should realize this responsibility. When we talk about depolarization, international actors also have their contribution in terms of polarization in Georgia. Therefore, all actors should realize their share of responsibility and instead of inciting radicals in Georgia, on the contrary, they should encourage constructive cooperation and reject radicals”, said Papuashvili.
As he explained, both in Georgia and in all other countries, parties are prohibited from receiving funding from foreign sources, and "we see that a mechanism has been created to bypass the legislation with fake non-governmental organizations". According to Papuashvili, this applies to parties such as Droa, Girchi, European Georgia, etc.
"The structures are directly created to bypass Georgian legislation and to receive funding from foreign sources. Of course, these parties, as well as the fake non-governmental organizations founded by them, and also the relevant European institutions, which invest money non-transparently in Georgian politics, should make explanations regarding this," Papuashvili said.
