One week after the start of the war, 38 countries, including Georgia, appealed to The Hague regarding the investigation against Russia for war crimes - the warrant issued against Putin is also a result of this investigation, the executive secretary of Georgian Dream Mamuka Mdinaradze writes on the social network.

Mamuka Mdinaradze notes that many countries, including Moldova, joined the appeal.

"On March 2, 2022, one week after the start of the war, 38 countries, including Georgia, appealed to The Hague regarding the investigation against Russia for war crimes. Many countries did not join this appeal, among which was, for example, Moldova.

Based on the appeal, the Hague Court started an investigation.

The warrant issued against Putin a few days ago is also the result of this investigation.

These are the days when protests were held in Tbilisi on the grounds that the Georgian government did not support Ukraine...

These are the days when the Ukrainian authorities recalled the ambassador from Georgia for the same reason...

As for the Georgian legal base in relation to the Hague Court:

There are 123 countries participating in the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Currently, they do not include, for example, Ukraine itself, Russia, the USA, etc.

Georgia, one of the member states of the Rome Statute, is among the 22 countries that have fully adapted their legal framework for cooperation with the Hague Court, in contrast to the 16 EU member states that have not yet created a legislative framework for procedural cooperation with the Court," Mdinaradze wrote on Facebook.
