Georgian President: Gov't must not dare to bring more polarization

10.03.23 10:00

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili on Thursday said “the government should not dare and try to bring more polarization to this pacified society, which knows where it is heading and how it should go.”

In her video address, the President welcomed the ruling team’s “correct decision” to withdraw the draft bills “on Transparency of Foreign Influence.”

She continued by saying that the foreign partners saw the people’s determination and their remarkable stance on Georgia’s European course.

“It was also the first indication of depolarization because everyone was focused on the same objective.

I am confident that this union will manifest itself at any stage on our path to Europe. I’ve previously told you that we are by your side on this path. Be not frightened.

I will veto any law that is not in line with our European way. Because you are standing behind this veto and I am counting on you, it is no longer an empty veto.

You demonstrated depolarization, completing the first part of the recommendations,” she stated.
