It is very important that the European Commission positively evaluates the steps taken by Georgia in terms of alignment with the European Union acquis, the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, writes about this on the social network.
In relations to the analytical report published by the European Commission on Georgia, the President notes that this positive assessment is welcome.
"It is very important that the European Commission positively evaluates the steps taken by Georgia in terms of alignment with the EU acquis.
This positive assessment is welcome, which gives more importance to our implementation of 12 recommendations in the near future, in order to grant Georgia candidate status in the shortest possible time," Zurabishvili wrote.
For information, the European Commission published a report on Georgia’s alignment with the EU acquis. As stated in the report, Georgia has some level of preparation to implement the acquis in the area of justice, freedom and security. Also, the document says that Georgia has a certain level of preparation in the field of public procurement. The document also talks about digital transformation and media and emphasizes that the EU supports the smooth functioning of the internal market for electronic communications, electronic commerce and audio-visual services. The report notes that the rules protect consumers and support universal access to modern services. In this regard, the document reads that "Georgia has some level of preparation in the area of information society and media."
