When you purposely spoil the relations and then ask the country 'why you don't give me something', it's called extortion, sorry but, nobody will allow this - this is part of the opera, Beka Davituliani, a member of the parliamentary majority, told the journalists, responding to the statement of Ukrainian Chargé d'Affaires in Georgia, Andrii Kasianov.

According to him, there is no request, but a demand from the side of Ukraine, and this is an unfriendly step.

"When you are pushing a country, whose territories are occupied by Russia, so arrogantly every day and ask them to transfer military equipment, which they have very little, in my opinion, it is not a friendly step, it is an unfriendly step, which is not the first on the part of Ukraine. I don't know what it's called to ask for a handover, just like the generators before it. When you have a good relationship with the other country, you can ask it, but when you purposely spoil the relations and then ask the country 'why you don't give me something', it's called extortion, sorry but nobody will allow this. We don't have that many capabilities from a military point of view, we don't have weapons production, we are an occupied country, we have a vital amount of weapons, and such "requests" and in fact the demands are related to completely different things and in no way to the need for that "Buk" for Ukraine. This is part of the series when the Ukrainian authorities, a number of our friendly ambassadors, asked us to organize a plane flight for volunteers, which would put Georgia at a very high risk, while the Georgian government does nothing to prevent it and certainly does not create such an environment that Georgian volunteers would not fight in Ukraine, on the contrary, today about 2000 Georgians are fighting in Ukraine, and I wish them good health and victory, and we really do not prevent it. This request is exactly part of that opera, that for some reason some people requested to organize a special flight, when the volunteers were already going without problems. Some people want Georgia to be identified as an active party in the war process, which will increase the risks for the security of our country," Davituliani said.

To the question, in the conditions when Georgia could not actually buy weapons after 2008, whether the sale of weapons to Georgia was a help from Ukraine, Davituliani answers that, according to his information, the contract for the purchase of weapons, including "Buk", was signed in 2007 and this armament was transferred to Georgia in exchange for money a year earlier.

"After 2008, there were really problems with certain types of armaments, however, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, including Ukraine, sold certain weapons to Georgia. What does aid mean? We used to pay and buy," Davitulian said.

For information, Ukrainian Chargé d'Affaires in Georgia, Andrii Kasianov, published an article in the Ukrainian media, according to which, Kyiv asked Tbilisi to hand over the "Buk" missiles, which were given to Georgia by Ukraine during the 2008 war. According to him, Ukraine's request included the Javelin systems transferred by the United States of America to Georgia, and regarding the latter, there was not only consent from the United States, but even a proposal to replace them with new complexes.
