Russia violates Georgian airspace, State Security Service says move is a ‘provocation’

21.08.19 18:00

A Russian MI-8 aircraft violated Georgian airspace at about 12:00 near the village of Gugutiantkari today.

The State Security Service of Georgia has confirmed the violation and stated the move is ‘yet another provocation by Russia.’

The hotline has been activated and the EU Monitoring mission was informed,” the State Security Service reported.

This is another provocation that affects security at the scene,” the state agency says.

The Russian aircraft spent several minutes above the occupied Tskhinvali region in the vicinity of Gugutiantkari.

Russian occupation forces continue fortifying the so-called ‘border’ they have been erecting since August 7 between the villages of Gugutiantkari and currently Russia-occupied Disevi.
