According to former President Mikheil Saakashvili's lawyer Shalva Khachapuridze, Mikheil Saakashvili was forbidden to send letters.

According to the lawyer, he applied to the Penitentiary Service and is requesting clarifications from the agency.

In addition, the lawyer spoke about the trial regarding the postponement of the sentence of Saakashvili.

"We want to complete work with American experts, maybe before the new year, for the court to share our request because, in relation to the rest of the experts, there is Mrs. Mariam Jishkariani and several others who must be questioned, including the English expert. For the rest, depending on Saakashvili's health condition, we may even publish these testimonies. Therefore, tomorrow we will have a request to the court that maybe at least 2 processes be scheduled before the new year. After the new year, 2-3 more processes and that's it.

Yesterday, I sent a letter to the Penitentiary Service, asking that the fact is that lawyers were not allowed on the weekend, which has not been the case for so long, and also the issue of sendng letters. These letters are not a threat to the state or something, all this has its own rules and norms. It is also unclear why this person does not have the opportunity to talk on the phone for so long," said Shalva Khachapuridze.
