According to Lelo MP Salome Samadashvili, Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili's statements made at yesterday's government session were shameful and "it would have been better to say nothing".

As she told the journalists, Irakli Gharibashvili humiliated and insulted the people who are fighting for freedom in Ukraine today.

"The father of the deceased Georgian fighter has already answered Gharibashvili, it will be difficult for me to answer him better than that. Yesterday, Irakli Gharibashvili insulted not only all the people who are fighting in Ukraine today, but he insulted and humiliated every soldier, every person who has ever fought to protect this country and our freedom - because he actually humiliated the people who may be fighting in Ukraine now, but many of them have fought for the territorial integrity of our country. It was a shameful speech, it would have been better for Irakli Gharibashvili to say nothing and to remain silent, as he was silent before, until the public indignation forced Georgian Dream to express condolences. I would like to remind Gharibashvili and Georgian Dream - we have been fighting for 30 years for our country to be an independent and strong state, in this struggle we had to go through wars between them. Today, the war for this country to get a chance to be a strong and independent country is in Ukraine. Therefore, thanks, sorry, and respect - these are the words that should be said by the current government to all the people who sacrificed their lives and some put them in great danger to protect our freedom," said Samadashvili.
