MFA: The Czech ambassador confirmed that his words were misinterpreted and disseminated out of context

Ambassador of the Czech Republic Petr Mikyska confirmed that unfortunately his words were misinterpreted and disseminated out of context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia disseminates information about this.

 

According to the Ministry, during the meeting with the Deputy Minister, the ambassador also confirmed that there are no questions regarding the sanctions in relation to Georgia.

 

According to them, the reason for being summoned to the Ministry was the ambassador's statement published in the media, in which he said that part of the products coming to Georgia from the Czech Republic, bypassing the sanctions, goes to Russia.

 

"Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili once again introduced to the Czech side the complex steps that Georgia is taking not to allow such facts and demanded from the ambassador a detailed explanation of what Petr Mikyska's statement was based on, which does not correspond to reality and harms the cooperation of the two countries as well as the reputation of Georgia.

 

The Czech ambassador confirmed that unfortunately his words were disseminated and spread out of context.

 

During the meeting with the deputy minister, the ambassador also confirmed that there are no questions regarding the sanctions in relation to Georgia," reads the statement.

 

According to media reports, the Czech ambassador to Georgia, Petr Mikyska, said that in 2022, the export of Czech products to Georgia "almost doubled" and he is sure that at least part of the difference goes to the Russian Federation.
