Largest number of visitors arrived in Georgia from Russia in Q2 2019

The largest number of visitors (378.2 thousand) was from the Russian Federation in II quarter of 2019, 36.8 percent higher compared to the same period of the last year, according to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

 

According to the Geostat official statistics, 2.2 million non-resident travelers arrived in Georgia in the II quarter of 2019, 13.4 percent higher compared to the previous year. Most of the incomes, 45 percent, were made by 31-50 years old travelers.

 

The number of visits by international visitors was 1.9 million, 13 percent higher compared to 2018.

 

According to the same statistics, in the II quarter of 2019, the number of international visitors was 1.5 million, 13 percent higher compared to the previous year. International visitors have made 1.2 million tourist-type visits, 13.8 percent higher compared to the previous year.

 

66.2 percent of international visitors were tourists. The share of campers was 27.9 percent, while 5.9 percent of visitors were both tourists and day-trippers.

 

In II quarter of 2019 the largest number of visitors (378.2 thousand) was from the Russian Federation, which amounts to 24.9 percent of total number of visitors and is 36.8 percent increase compared to II quarter of 2018. The largest share of visits (23.1 percent) comes on the citizens of Russian Federation, that is 37.5 percent higher compared to II quarter of 2018.

 

The majority of visitors (46.2 percent) belonged to the age group of 31-50 years. The number of women equaled to 40 percent of the total number of visitors.

 

In II quarter of 2019, the purpose of the majority of visits (46.6 percent) was holiday, leisure and recreation.

 

The majority of visits comes on Tbilisi and Adjara A/R, 1 069.3 thousands and 516.7 thousands accordingly.

 

The expenditures during the visits amounted to 2.4 billion GEL, 24.6 percent higher compared to the previous year.
