The Ministry of Internal Affairs does not release information on how many Georgian citizens have been refused to travel to Europe after foreign border guards were deployed in the Kutaisi Airport.

InterPresNews twice requested the relevant information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but the agency did not provide statistics.

More specifically, in response to an official letter sent by InterPressNews to the Ministry of Internal Affairs about the number of Georgian citizens being refused to travel to Europe, the Ministry said: “It is not the competence of the Ministry to collect statistical data on the citizens who were refused to depart from the country”.

We would like to remind you that foreign border guards, including French and Greek border guards, have been deployed in the Kutaisi airport together Georgians since spring of this year.
