Levan Machabeli, who was illegally detained by the Russian occupation forces on March 26 of this year, is free and is in the territory controlled by the central government.

Information about this was disseminated late yesterday by SSG.

According to the agency, the "hotline" mechanism and other tools at the disposal of the central government were actively used to request his immediate release. The issue of his release from illegal detention was regularly discussed in the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) format, and information was continuously provided to the co-chairs of the Geneva International Discussions and international partners.

"The central government continues to work actively to release other illegally detained citizens of Georgia, both in the direction of occupied Tskhinvali and occupied Abkhazia. Full responsibility for the destructive actions carried out in the occupied regions of Georgia and along the occupation line rests with the occupying power", reads the SSG statement.
