The US Embassy's statement confirms that the opposition was lying and accusing the embassy of crimes, Irakli Kobakhidze, chairman of the Georgian Dream party, told journalists.
As Kobakhidze noted, "if there is any anti-Western campaign, it is the very accusation of the US Embassy by the opposition of pressuring the court.” He added: "Naturally, the US Embassy would never exert pressure on the court."
"The statement from the US Embassy is very accurate - it is exactly what we were saying.
Even in 2012, even though there was the toughest regime, including in the courts, the US supported the judiciary and the support continues today in a situation where the judiciary has been completely reformed.
What we were saying has now been confirmed by the statement from the US Embassy, which has refuted the opposition's allegations that the US Embassy committed a crime, summoned a judge, exerted pressure on the judge and the court, etc." Irakli Kobakhidze said.
