In Tbilisi and the regions, 29 schoolteachers teach in the Ukrainian language sector, of which Mykhailo Hrushevsky Public School No. 41 employs 22 teachers, of which 7 are Georgian citizens. Batumi Public School No. 20 employs a total of 7 teachers in the Ukrainian-speaking sector, of which 6 are citizens of Ukraine and 1 is a citizen of Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science told InterPressNews.
According to the data available at the moment, 912 pupils of different ages from Ukraine are studying in Georgia.
"According to the decision of the Government of Georgia, pupils who, as a result of the hostilities in Ukraine, are unable to continue their general education in Ukrainian schools and express a desire to continue their education in Georgia, are enrolled in schools in a simplified manner. By the decision of the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, Ukrainian-speaking sectors have been opened in Tbilisi and Batumi, where students have the opportunity to receive education in their native language, in accordance with the Ukrainian curriculum.
According to the data available at the moment, 912 pupils of different ages have already been enrolled in Tbilisi and the regions, including 316 pupils - in the Ukrainian sector of No. 41 Mykhailo Hrushevsky Tbilisi Public School and 100 students in the Ukrainian sector of Batumi No. 20 Public School (416 pupils in total in the Ukrainian sector). Mykhailo Hrushevsky Public School No. 41 employs a total of 22 teachers in the Ukrainian-speaking sector, 7 of whom are Georgian citizens. Batumi Public School No. 20 employs a total of 7 teachers in the Ukrainian-speaking sector, of which 6 are citizens of Ukraine and 1 is a citizen of Georgia," the Ministry of Education and Science told InterPressNews.
