"Those who call on the authorities not to punish the perpetrators and not to execute the sentence are not friends of Georgia, they are not supporters of sovereignty and justice," said Nikoloz Samkharadze, chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, responding to Irakli Kobakhidze's statement who called MEPs Viola von Cramon and Anna Fotyga anti-EU.
Samkharadze said if they do not make biased statements, neither will they respond with criticism.
"When there are specific criminal cases and you call for the perpetrators not to be punished for political reasons, it will directly undermine justice in the country. If Viola von Cramon does not make biased statements, there won't be criticism from our side either. If she is a supporter and is in favor of granting candidate status to Georgia, then we should work together," Samkharadze said.
