Georgian market has potential for new TV stations

The Georgian market has the potential for new TV stations to emerge – Kakha Kaladze, Tbilisi Mayor told journalists.

 

“I welcome media pluralism, and different media spaces are very important,” Kaladze said. According to Tbilisi Mayor, the government may not like persons standing behind the media projects, though.

 

“Let’s recall what was happening before 2012. Nobody could dare to establish a TV station independently unless it was controlled by the authorities. Today’s situation is radically different. Any person can establish a TV station. This needs finances and does not represent a problem. The government does not terrorize people, who lead activities in that direction,” Kaladze claimed.
