Ardent nationalist and provocateur editor-in-chief of the Realist news agency Sarkis Tsaturyan made a direct appeal to the Russian military. Sarkis Tsaturyan still thinks that, as in 1992, the Russian military can and will do something "over the heads" of Russian officials:
Sarkis Tsaturyan begins his address pathetically:
"Dear Russian servicemen, I am addressing you now. The moment of truth has arrived. I believe that it is time for you and the leadership of the Russian Armed Forces to make a personal choice: either put an end to the Baku-Turkey terror suffered by the Armenians of Artsakh, or openly show solidarity with Azerbaijan and Turkey, which need Artsakh without Armenians. Preserving the so-called neutrality is no longer possible. The position of both ours and yours no longer works...".
Actually, it is completely unclear why the Russian military should listen to Sarkis Tsaturyan. Considering that Sarkis Tsaturyan now lives in Russia and heads a media outlet officially registered in Russia, such an "attempt" to appeal is nothing but an attempt to provoke another war.
Sarkis Tsaturyan is inciting the Russian military not to listen to his immediate superiors, but to listen to him and the "Artsakh" separatists, outside Russia, where the stay and mission of the Russian military is linked to the implementation of international agreements.
As a whole, Sarkis Tsaturyan intends to shift the responsibility for unleashing the war onto Azerbaijan and Turkey.
"...Baku-Turkey provocateurs have left you no room for manoeuvre. Like the Banderovites and jackals, the Baku regime is waiting for 'Akela misses' in Ukraine...".
Tsaturyan does not forget to reproach Russia for having once tried to disarm the illegal Armenian gangs (and unfortunately failed to do so), and then "praises" the Russian generals, with whom the most shameful moments of Russian history are associated.
"...And we Armenians remember everything and everyone. We even remember Operation Ring in the Shahumyan district. However, the dark pages of history do not prevent us from honouring the memory of General Pavel Grachev and General Alexander Lebed, who took the grief and hardships of Armenians as their own personal grief. They were true Russian officers, whom we will never forget. Ask passers-by on the streets of Stepanakert about Grachev and Lebed. People have not forgotten them...".
Indeed, many in Russia have not forgotten Pavel Grachev's virtually botched "first Chechen war" and the shameful Khasavyurt Peace Agreement in Chechnya concluded by General Lebed. We should remind that the same Pavel Grachev became "famous" in a corruption scandal with illegal arms deliveries to Armenia worth over $1 billion.
But for Sarkis Tsaturyan such generals turn out to be "examples" from whom other Russian militaries should take an example.
At the end of his address, Sarkis Tsaturyan directly blackmails Russia:
"It's not just about history, though. You know it well. It's about the present and the future. I want you to understand me correctly. If the Kremlin is not ready to carry out its peacekeeping mission in Artsakh because it does not want to spoil its business relations with Baku and Ankara, let it state this openly. And then the Armenians of France and the US will demand from their governments to introduce an international contingent to "Artsakh". After all, France and the US are co-chairs of the Minsk Group, just like Russia. At least this will be fair to the Armenians of "Artsakh".
I do not have any illusions. I am not calling for a war between Russia and Azerbaijan. You are experienced people. Many of you have been through Syria and other hot spots. You yourself know how to convince the minisultanate to stop its provocations in "Artsakh". When you really want to, you can do a lot!
This is not the first time that Sarkis Tsaturyan has expressed "displeasure" with the current policy of the Russian leadership towards Azerbaijan. The video, posted on 7 March 2022, after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where he "reproaches" the Russian leadership for signing an agreement with Azerbaijan, and also, again, for the umpteenth time tries to question the Kars Treaty.
Here again, Sarkis Tsaturyan "blames" Russia for the fact that it was obliged to undertake efforts to disarm the illegal armed gangs in the territory of Azerbaijan. We are talking about the "Artsakh" separatists.
Clearly, Russia is in no position today to open "another front", questioning the territorial integrity of yet another neighbouring state. And it was the Armenian lobby that dragged Russia into the bloody "Ukrainian quagmire", which deliberately fomented separatism on Ukrainian territory as best it could. And now, when Russia, which was involved in an adventure in Ukraine, is clearly no longer concerned with 'Artsakh' separatists, the likes of Sarkis Tsaturyan are trying to provoke a war in the South Caucasus with Russian participation in any way.
