EU to sanction more Russian oligarchs, Belarus banks

The European Commission has prepared a new package of sanctions against Russia and Belarus over the invasion of Ukraine that will hit additional Russian oligarchs and politicians and three Belarusian banks, three sources told Reuters on Tuesday.

 

According to them, the sanctions, which will be discussed by EU ambassadors at today's meeting, will expel three Belarusian banks from the Swift banking system and blacklist more Russian oligarchs and politicians.

 

A new package of sanctions has reportedly banned the export of marine technology from the EU to Russia. It also monitors cryptocurrencies to prevent them from being used to avoid sanctions.
