The main task is to prevent a new war in Ukraine and I think that all our efforts, words, deeds should be directed here, so that a new war does not take place in Ukraine, it is in the interest of both Ukraine and Georgia and the region as a whole, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said.

Papuashvili opened the Bureau meeting by responding to the issue of Ukraine and expressed solidarity with Kyiv. He said the unity of the West would be critically important to prevent a new war.

"I want to express solidarity, first of all, with Ukraine on the issue of sovereignty and ensuring the security of its people. It is absolutely unacceptable for any country to question the sovereignty or territorial integrity of another country. I had a meeting with the Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia a few days ago and I also expressed our support to him. The main task today is to prevent a new war in Ukraine and I think that all our efforts, words, deeds should be directed here so that a new war does not take place in Ukraine, it is in the interest of both Ukraine and Georgia and the region as a whole. The unity of the West is important and critical here in order to prevent hostilities in Ukraine. I want to inform the population that we are in close communication with our Western partners and, of course, we will act in accordance with this communication," Papuashvili said.
