Two competition commissions have been set up to select candidates for the positions of Head of the Personal Data Protection Service and the Special Investigation Service. The Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili stated about it at the government session.

He said it is important that the candidate has at least 5 years of experience in the judiciary, law enforcement or human rights system.

"As you know, based on the changes in the legislation, two new agencies will be created instead of the State Inspector's Service from March 1 - the Personal Data Protection Service and the Special Investigation Service. Competitions will be announced to select the heads of these services. Both competition commissions for the selection of candidates have already been set up, the first sessions of which will be held today, and in which I will also participate in accordance with the legislation. Out of the criteria to be followed by the commissions, it is important that the candidate has at least 5 years of experience in the judiciary, law enforcement or human rights system. As for the stages, no less than 2 and no more than 5 candidates will be selected for each position as a result of the competition. From the candidates presented to me, I will nominate 2 candidates for the position of the Head of the Special Investigation Service and also 2 candidates for the position of the Head of the Personal Data Protection Service," Gharibashvili said.
