By 2022 teachers' salaries may reach 1800 GEL. Mikheil Batiashvili, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport stated about it in an interview with the newspaper "Kviris Palitra".

"This promise is long-term, but in September all the teachers will get a salary which qualification is confirmed. The process will continue every year and at least 150 GEL will be added. So, we will gradually reach 2022 and their salary will reach 1.500-1.800 GEL. 

The infrastructure should also be improved, the teacher's qualification will be increased, for which we have many programs for retraining, new teachers will be found, "- said the Minister.

In the interview Mikheil Batiashvili also touched upon the issue of removal of school leaving exams and noted that knowledge obtained for exams is superficial.

"If we only focus on the last two years, the school loses the function, since it is obligatory to give the child the right education from first to last. Today's results are so low that the worst is harder to imagine. Now we think how to improve. When large-scale reforms are taking place, naturally many questions arise, but the fact is something to be altered. School should become like school! Today, both the parent and the child's entire resources are spent on training with tutors in the last two years, because the school can not perform its function and automatically seeks the external training request. When the school will return the function, the problem of the tutors will be removed, "- added Mikheil Batiashvili.
