The Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, explained at the sitting of the Government of Georgia that the salary increase will affect public servants as well as teachers, doctors and employees in various fields.
"From January next year, salaries will increase in the army, in the police. In addition, the salaries of teachers, school administrative staff, resource officers, village doctors, nurses, all staff of the ambulance service will be increased. There will be a 10% salary increase in the public sector", Khutsishvili said.
In addition, he explained that the number of allowances will also increase.
"Monthly social assistance for severely disabled persons and persons under 18 years of age increases by 25 GEL. The monthly 22-GEL allowance for war veterans increases to 100 GEL. A 10% increase in the salaries of ambulance crews and rural doctors is envisaged. In addition, it is envisaged to fully equalize the salaries of the emergency brigades in the municipality with the salaries in Tbilisi. It is also planned to finance new healthcare programs, which did not exist before", Khutsishvili said.
As he noted, a 10% increase in the salaries of school administrative staff is envisaged, as well as an increase in the salaries of resource officers and social workers.
"Next year, assistance to children in socially vulnerable families will be fully funded, in the amount of 100 GEL per child per month. The healthcare budget for Covid amounts to GEL 500 million. We bought the number of vaccines this year that is enough for next year," Khutsishvili said.
