Investigation Service brings to the criminal liability one person on the fact of smuggling of particularly large amount of gold

Representatives of Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, through the coordinated activities carried out together with the representatives of Customs Department of the Revenue Service, brought to the criminal liability one person on the fact of importing particularly large amount of undeclared goods to the customs border of Georgia, - reports the Investigation.

 

"Investigation determined that the accused person, through the customs checkpoint “Sarpi” imported in Georgia various types of goods, in which, as a result of customs control, undeclared precious metal products were found. As a result of investigative activities more than 5 kilograms of gold items were seized, customs value of which exceeds GEL 565 000", - reads the statement.

 

According to the agency, the investigation is underway under the 2nd part of article 214 of Criminal Code of Georgia, which envisages imprisonment from 5 to 7 years.
