03.11.21 16:30

The trial of Megis Kardava, former head of the Military Police Department, is underway in the Tbilisi City Court. According to lawyer Malkhaz Velijanashvili, Megis Kardava has been charged with torturing prisoners in prison and today's trial is related to this episode.

The accused attends the court session.

"We will file a motion to cancel the measure of restraint. He did not refuse to appear in court. In this case, as in all other cases, he considers himself a political prisoner. This is proved by the forced testimonies against him,” Velijanashvili said.

Megis Kardava was extradited from Ukraine to Georgia on September 17. He has been convicted in 5 criminal cases and is being tried in another case.
