"If they try to hold a trial of Mikheil Saakashvili remotely, we will refuse it," said Giorgi Gelkhauri, a lawyer for former President Mikheil Saakashvili, before entering the 12th penitentiary in Rustavi.

According to him, Mikheil Saakashvili wants to attend his trial.

"Today is the 34th day of the hunger strike and it is logical that his health condition has worsened. Therefore, the council decided to conduct certain tests. As for the trial - we see that 34 days have passed without Mikheil Saakashvili being tried, that is, he has actually been deprived of the right to a free trial. If they try to hold his trial remotely, we will refuse it, and if Mikheil Saakashvili or any other person involved in the trial refuses, the trial shall be held live. They are afraid of the fact that Mikheil Saakashvili may appear on the screen and address the court and the public. Mikheil Saakashvili wants to attend the trial," Gelkhauri said.
