Person detained for assaulting Interpressnews photo reporter remanded in custody

Mukhran Dadvani, accused of assaulting Interpressnews photojournalist Giorgi Nikolishvili, has been remanded in custody by Tbilisi City Court.


At today's hearing, the defense filed a motion for bail in the amount of GEL 5,000 to GEL 10,000 to change the detention order. However, Judge Gizo Ubilava rejected the lawyers' motion and remanded Mukhran Dadvani in custody.


A total of seven defendants, including Dadvani, were represented at the trial, all of them will remain in custody. The prosecution appealed to the court to remand all seven of them in custody.


For information, on Rustaveli Avenue, the acts of violence against media representatives and obstruction of professional activities are being investigated under Articles 154 (unlawful interference with a journalist's professional activities) and Article 126 (violence) of the Criminal Code. In total, the case includes 31 defendants and 57 victims.
